NACE Code 3832 - Recycling of waste

Definition / Belongs to this divisionThis division includes the processing of scrap metal and non-metal scrap into secondary raw materials, which usually requires a physical or chemical transformation process.

Examples of mechanical or chemical transformation processes are:
- mechanical pressing of scrap metal e.g. used car, washing machine, bicycle, etc.
- large iron objects e.g. cutting of railway carriages
- shredding of scrap metal by end-of-life vehicles, etc.
- other volume-reducing mechanical machining, e.g. cutting, pressing
- extraction of metal content of photographic wastes e.g. fixing fluid, films, photo paper
- extraction of the rubber content of used tires for the production of secondary raw materials
- sorting, crushing and pelletizing plastics to produce tubes, flower pots, mattresses and similar secondary raw materials
- processing of plastic or rubber waste (by cleaning, melting, grinding, shredding) to produce granules
- crushing, cleaning and sorting of glass waste
- crushing, cleaning and sorting other wastes e.g. demolition waste for the production of secondary raw materials
- processing of cooking oil and fat to produce secondary raw materials
- processing of other waste from food, beverages and tobacco and residues to produce secondary raw materials
also belongs to this sectorThis division also includes:
- the following forms of waste recycling:
(1) sorting and classification of recyclable materials from non-hazardous waste (household, industrial waste); or
(2) sorting recyclable but mixed materials such as e.g. paper, plastic, used bottles, metals into different categories.
It belongs to this branch - Hungarian supplementThis division includes - Hungarian supplement:
- production of pellets and briquettes from mixed metal or plastic waste
It does not belong to this sectorThis division excludes:
- production of new finished products (for own account or for external use) from secondary raw materials such as textile waste in the form of twisted yarn, pulping, use of paper waste, retreading of used tires or production of metal products from metal shavings, see the relevant sections of Section C (Manufacturing)
- reprocessing of nuclear fuels, see 2013 - Manufacture of inorganic chemical raw materials
- remelting of scrap iron, see 2410 - Manufacture of basic iron and steel and of ferro-alloys
- incineration of non-hazardous waste with energy recovery, see 3821 - Treatment and disposal of non-hazardous waste
- treatment and disposal of non-hazardous waste, see 3821 - Treatment and disposal of non-hazardous waste
- treatment and disposal of organic waste, including composting, see 3821 - Treatment and disposal of non-hazardous waste
- recycling of materials from waste incineration, see 38.2
- treatment and disposal of temporarily radioactive waste, eg from hospitals, etc., see 3822 - Treatment and disposal of hazardous waste
- treatment and disposal of toxic and contaminated waste, see 3822 - Treatment and disposal of hazardous waste
