Definition / Belongs to this divisionThis subsector includes fishing activities for the capture of wild aquatic organisms (mainly fish, shellfish, molluscs but including aquatic plants) (eg hunting, catching, harvesting). These organisms may originate from oceanic, coastal, inland aquatic environments, the capture can be arranged by hand or by any fishing gear (eg fishing nets, various traps), are intended for human consumption, or for other purposes. These activities can be carried out in the ocean, coastal and inland waters (e.g. collecting mussels, oysters), with a net, or from a watercraft. The craft can be made at home, but it is mostly commercially available. Fishing activities also include fishing activities in restocked waters.
