The transmission (broadcasting) of the completed television program may be carried out by the producer of the program or by a third party distributor, such as cable or satellite television providers.

The program may be of a general or specific nature (eg specializing in a field such as news, sports, education, or a youth program).

This includes programs made available to users free of charge and by subscription only.
